Joan Shinkus Clark, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE, FAAN, is the senior vice president/chief nurse executive for Texas Health Resources, the largest non-profit health care delivery system in North Texas in terms of patients served.

Joan is a proud, 21-year member of AONE who is dedicated to innovative nursing leadership. Her 36 years as a nurse and 32 years of nursing leadership give her the wisdom, experience and passion to be a strong advocate in shaping the future of health care.

JOAN CLARK'S LEADERSHIP IN INNOVATION

Developed the first systemwide nursing strategic plan for Texas Health Resources, one of the largest non-profit health systems in the United States
Implemented a unique joint venture staffing agency at Texas Health Resources
Implemented the Twelve Bed Hospital©, named one of the most innovative models of care delivery by Robert Woods Johnson, at Baptist Hospital of Miami. Now implementing the CNL role in the Twelve Bed Hospital© format within a multihospital system.
In response to the faculty shortage, developed philanthropically-funded on-site nursing programs in conjunction with Miami-Dade College, Nova Southeastern University, and Georgetown University to increase recruitment and retention of nurses.
Developed a new role to assist RNs in deploying non-value added tasks, reengineered using robotic transport technology (TUG).
